- RTCA, Inc develops consensus and provides recommendations on aviation standards. These products serve as the basis for many
FAA Technical Standard Orders and Advisory Circulars as well as a source of guidance for Government and Industry standards
and investment decisions. RTCA seeks solutions to problems involving applied electronics, computers, and telecommunications
to aeronautical operations and also develops recommended operational concepts. NextGen Advisory Committee (NAC) meetings,
along with various Special Committees (SC) and Program Management Committee (PMC) meetings are held yearly to conduct the
work of RTCA for the benefit of the FAA and its members. The results of these meetings are a variety of publications, guidance,
and standards used by the FAA and its members in the aviation community. These products and reports are available at the RTCA
website: www.rtca.org for purchase. The NextGen Advisory Committee is the primary group that the FAA’s Deputy Administrator
relies upon for customer input, information and recommendations to the FAA. The NextGen Advisory Committee recommends consensus-based
investment priorities aimed at improving safety, capacity and/or efficiency of the National Air Transportation System. Aviation
operational requirements, coupled with anticipated availability of financial resources are fundamental criteria upon which
NextGen Advisory Committee deliberates and proposes recommendations.
