    • COMSTAC makes recommendations to DOT and the FAA Administrator regarding proposed federal policy, business and economic issues and other specific concerns affecting the U.S. commercial space transportation industry. The COMSTAC’S Technology and Innovation Working Group releases the annual Geosynchronous Orbit Launch Demand Forecast each year. This market forecast is used as one of the premier sources for market information about the international commercial geostationary launch market. COMSTAC’s Risk Management working group led the effort for the Committee to make a recommendation to the Department of Transportation regarding indemnification authority in the Commercial Space Launch Act. The COMSTAC RLV Working Group (RLVWG)continues to be one of the leading groups for information and advice on the business and launch technology for reusable launch vehicle development. The RLVWG is currently working on the development of Training Standards for Private Human Spaceflight, which, when completed, will provide the FAA with the types of requirements needed to qualify and/or rate individuals to be spaceflight pilots, technician, ground personnel, etc. according to FAA standards and regulations. Currently, the full Committee is providing input on ways that the FAA can support the U.S. commercial space transportation industry in the international arena. The Committee will develop a specific set of comments or recommendations in November 2008
