  • Vision [1]
    • The Committee provides information and advice on: (1) standards and objectives for non-governmental study abroad programs that seek to be affiliated with the Initiative; (2) marketing and promotional strategies; and (3) the role of the Senior Advisor for the Initiative in promoting private sector study abroad programs in China. The Committee meets at least twice a year and at such other times and places as the Executive Secretary specifies. Subcommittees and working groups will meet as appropriate for their assigned responsibilities. The Senior Advisor may establish appropriate subcommittees or working groups to carry out assigned responsibilities, and shall provide such guidance and direction as is necessary and appropriate to ensure the effective functioning of such subcommittee or working group so established. Subcommittees report to the parent committee and do not provide advice or work products directly to the Department. The Committee will consult with other interested parties, agencies and interagency committees and groups of the United States government, foreign governments, and with national and international private sector organizations and individuals as the Department of State and the Committee decide are necessary or desirable. The Committee's advising and consulting efforts work toward the purpose of not only raising awareness of the importance of preparing the next generation of American experts on China but offering insights that enrich the State Department's perspective and making recommendations that increase the effectiveness of the Initiative's implementation in the private sector.
