- The GAC is an advisory body to the Attorney General, and was created to support broad-scale exchange of justice information.
The GAC consists of key officials from local, state, tribal, federal, and other justice-interested entities that work to support
public safety. The GAC seeks to improve the administration of justice and protect the nation''s public by promoting practices
and technologies for the secure sharing of justice information. The duties of the GAC are to carry out the objectives listed
in the section of the Charter entitled Objective and Scope of Activity. The overall advisory process and structure will include
representatives from local, state, tribal, and federal agencies. The GAC also appoints subject matter working groups, with
DOJ approval. The working groups will research and prepare recommendations to the GAC. These recommendations will be voted
on by the GAC and, if approved, forwarded to the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance for review.
