- Mission [1]
- The Medal of Valor award, which is the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer, is awarded annually by
the President or the Vice President to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal
safety, in the attempt to save human life. Leadership, one of the four primary goals in the Department of Justice's Strategic
Plan, includes responses to crime and justice and assisting states. The Medal of Valor characterizes extraordinary leadership
of our public safety officers, and promotes those ideals nationwide.
