| Description |
For a variety of its own reasons not applicable to the Committee, the agency may implement all/most of the recommendations,
but few times recommendations are not implemented.

ACWI makes recommendations not just to the Department of the Interior, but to all 5 of its other Federal agency members. In
particular, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which jointly co-chair two
major ACWI subgroups, generally support and try to implement the ACWI recommendations. For example, the USGS has implemented
50 of the 60 recommendations reviewed by the 2004 ACWI Task Force on the USGS Cooperative Water Program. The EPA recently
adopted the Water Quality Data Elements recommended by ACWI and distributed the new WQDE guide published in 2006 to all of
the 50 United States and U.S. territories. The several datasets developed and/or fostered by the Spatial Water Data Committee
are jointly developed, utilized and supported by the USGS, USDA and other ACWI Federal members, along with many states, in
support of developing Watershed Boundaries and mapping Hydrologic Units at finer scales.
