Revitalize Cyber Security across the Department of Energy Other Information:
The Department has taken significant steps to improve the current state of Cyber Security within the enterprise. The first
step in this effort involved developing a plan for the revitalization of the Department’s cyber security program. This plan
was signed by the Deputy Secretary on March 6, 2006, and establishes a federated approach to implementing cyber security where
the Department’s Under Secretaries are responsible for the implementation of cyber security in their organizations under the
leadership of the Department Chief Information Officer. The plan defines a comprehensive cyber security program to address
long-standing, systemic weaknesses in protecting our information and information systems.
