- USU is the Nation's federal health sciences university, providing healthcare professionals dedicated to careers in the Department
of Defense and the United States Public Health Service as well as scientists serving the common good. The University's global
perspective is unique, as is the integration within its educational programs of a focus on military medicine, disaster medicine,
and military medical readiness. The Board of Regents is one of the enabling components allowing USU to accomplish its mission.
The Board provides an important level of academic oversight, and its existence is necessary for University accreditation.
