Increase Access to Quality Child Care and Early Childhood Education

Access to quality child care fosters the development of children and enables their parents and guardians to take advantage of job opportunities. In addition, studies have shown that the benefits of high-quality early childhood education programs, especially for children from low-income families, last at least into early adulthood. Many families in Appalachia often do not have the resources, in terms of finances or time, to take full advantage of such services. Selected Strategies: Support efforts to initiate and expand early childhood education programs. Support local and regional efforts to increase access to early childhood education programs. Support efforts to increase access to quality child care.
