What we want to achieve? There is a broad international consensus, that development cooperation needs to become more effective.
The Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, the Accra Agenda for Action and the Busan Partnership clearly define the current
shortcomings of the aid system and highlight the fundamental importance of transparency to overcome these shortcomings: Transparency
and accountability are essential elements for development results. They lie at the heart of the Paris Declaration, in which
we agreed that countries and donors would become more accountable to each other and to their citizens. (AAA §24)

OpenAid was created by Claudia Schwegmann in 2009 as an independent association.

- Claudia Schwegmann: The OpenAid project is led by Claudia Schwegmann (@OpenAidGermany) and Christian Kreutz (@ckreutz), who both have extensive
experience in international development cooperation and who are both working as freelance consultants. Claudia is a political
scientist, theologian and organisational development consultant. Since 1996 she has been working project evaluation and management
in many African countries. Claudia is the founder of the OpenAid project, board member of Open Knowledge Foundation Germany
e.V., member of Transparency International Germany and of the IATI technical advisory group.
- Christian Kreutz: Co-Leader -- Christian Kreutz, Political scientist with many years of working experience in digital participation and open
data. He is founder of the hyperlocal webportal Frankfurt-gestalten.de, director of Crisscrossed GmbH for online participation
and board member of Open Knowledge Foundation Germany e.V.. Christian has developed the project offene-entwicklungshilfe.de.
- Björn Johansson: This website is maintained by Björn Johansson. Site admin. MSc Information Technology and MSc Business Administration. Interested
in social media and web technologies. Plays tennis, jogs and rides his bicycle when not playing with the kids or the computer.
- Open Knowledge Foundation Germany (Berlin): In 2012 OpenAid has become a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany (Berlin) to promote open data in development,
aid transparency and feedback processes.
