It's an NREN World; so ... what's an NREN these days?

This presentation will focus on the rapidly expanding role of the National Research and Education Network in an increasingly connected and global research and education environment. Using examples from Internet2 and from NRENs across the world, the argument will be made that NRENs are well into a process of metamorphesis from organizations created to provide research network connections to organizations providing an array of ICT services to an expanding group of constituencies, and serving increasingly broader public purposes.
