2009 - 2012 Strategic Plan Overview Strategic_Plan Start: 2009-01-01, End: 2012-12-31, Publication: 2010-11-11 Source: http://www.gelman.gwu.edu/about/organization/publications/the-george-washington-university The Gelman Library System’s Strategic Plan is a function of the University’s “Strategic Plan for Academic Excellence.” It is rooted in a systematic three-year cycle, with annual updates of individual goals, objectives, and strategies. This process has guided administrative decisionmaking and resource allocations and serves as an operational framework for: * Allocating funding for staffing, collections, and capital expenditures. * Projecting future budget requirements and expenditures. * Supporting the University's Strategic Plan for Academic Excellence. * Determining GLS group, team, and departmental priorities. Environmental Trends: Members of the GLS Strategic Planning Group (SPG) work with the GW community to monitor, identify, and analyze the political, economic, and societal trends affecting the University, focusing particularly on developments in six areas: higher education, human resources, academic libraries, information technology, library information producers, and the GW campus culture. With input from “scan area owners,” SPG members identify several environmental factors that will have the most critical impact on the libraries’ decisions.
