The following special objectives and ongoing tasks have been eliminated or significantly scaled back due to budget restraints: • Deaccession books not core to the department’s collecting policy • Create microfilm or digital copies of records that are fragile, of historical or financial important, and subject to frequent use • Expand quantity of digital collections accessible through CONTENTdm • Provide periodic workshops public workshops on research and use of collections • Research, write, and produce media content for new museum • Participate in Year of Alabama History campaign through announcement of 1867 Voter Registration books and other events. • Offer periodic programs for teachers and classrooms using distance learning technology • Provide statewide workshops in the care, preservation, and use of historical records and artifacts • Provide quarterly IT training to employees
