Wyatt Nordstrom, Anthony D'Alessandro, and Mark Platosh conceived the idea for Maven and founded the company in 2008 with the goal of making instant access to professional expertise available to everyone.

  • Wyatt A. NordstromCo-Founder and CEO - Wyatt has over a decade of experience in high technology and investment research. He began his career at Applied Materials, where he held a variety of roles in engineering, product support, and business management. After leaving Applied Materials in early 2005, Wyatt served as the West Coast head of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice at Gerson Lehrman Group. Most recently he served as the Director of Paid Research and Events at Think Equity Partners, a global boutique investment bank and institutional brokerage, where he led efforts to develop new markets and revenue sources for equity research products. Wyatt's deep experience in the development and marketing of multiple forms of research, combined with a strong belief in the need for a more transparent and transactional expert consulting platform, led him to found Maven. Wyatt holds a BS in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

  • Anthony J. D'AlessandroCo-Founder and COO - Anthony has over a dozen years of operations and high technology experience. He began his career as an Officer in the United States Navy where he served with distinction as the head of missile defense systems on an Aegis class destroyer and as combat information officer on the foreign based Sixth Fleet flag ship. After leaving the service, Anthony spent several years at Applied Materials, where he held roles in product support and business development. Later on, Anthony directed West Coast technology recruiting at Gerson Lehrman Group, and served as the regional head of the firm's Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice. Anthony's success at developing and leading winning teams combined with his experience in the technology and primary research industries led him to found Maven. Anthony holds a BS in Engineering (Product Design) from Stanford University.

  • Mark S. PlatoshCo-Founder and CTO - Mark has 14 years of professional experience focused on web technology. He has a successful track record of building software engineering products, engineering management, and technical product strategy for leading software companies that vary in size from start-ups to the largest on the web. For the past 9 years, he has been managing global product development teams, building products for ISV’s, OEM’s and various enterprises that require a deep technical backbone. He is an expert in Open Source technology, Agile methodologies, collaboration technigues and technologies, professional services, and the global delivery services model. Previously, he was Director of Technology at Lohika, a provider of premium offshore software development services to US companies, with development teams in the Ukraine. Mark began his career at Scient, an early pioneer of ecommerce consulting. Mark holds a BS in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

  • Stephen L. NicholsGeneral Counsel - Stephen is General Counsel of Maven Research, Inc. Prior to joining Maven, he practiced corporate law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City, where his focus was mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. He also has experience in the formation, financing and growth of new ventures. Additionally, he spent a year in the firm's Hong Kong office, working on Asian crossborder private equity deals. Prior to Paul Weiss, he practiced law at Dickstein Shapiro (which had acquired his prior firm, Roberts Sheridan & Kotel). Stephen was involved with several new ventures before beginning his legal career. Stephen holds a BS in Business Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a JD from Columbia University School of Law.

  • Patrick McKennaBoard of Directors - Patrick is a leading expert in OnDemand workforce business models and Direct to Consumer Marketing. Patrick is the CEO of Keniks, LLC, a San Francisco based ecommerce and technology company that integrates online marketing, traditional offline media distribution and OnDemand workforces to maximize the value of cross-media campaigns. Patrick was also a Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at LiveOps, Inc., a work-from-home call center with over 20,000 home-based agents. Before LiveOps, he worked on the start up of a services marketplace company, Ingenio, Inc., that was acquired by AT&T in 2007. Patrick also worked in mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan and served four years as an Information Technology Officer in the U.S. Army. He has an MBA from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California. Patrick is an active angel investor and adviser to start up technology companies. He serves on the Board of Directors of Rapleaf, Inc and the non-profit Board, Hands on Bay Area.

  • Brooks GibbinsBoard of Directors - Brooks is the Worldwide Sales Lead for Enterprise Search at Microsoft, whom he joined through Microsoft SharePoint's $1.2B acquisition of FAST, the Gartner Magic-Quadrant leader in Search, where he was Managing Director of the Worldwide Financial Services business. Brooks set up and built the US business for the UK banking-software provider, Serverside, who are most-recognized for Capital One's "Card Lab" and who were acquired by Gemalto, the €2B European digital security and software company. Brooks is best-known to the investment research community for his time at Multex who pioneered the access of commingled proprietary and broker research over the Internet and who grew from $3M-$95M in sales, had an IPO, and were acquired by Reuters during Brooks' tenure. Brooks held multiple leadership roles at Multex including Managing Director of their European Operations, Co-Head of Global Sales, and Senior Vice President of their Investment Management Business where he oversaw the launch of Multex360, a web based research tool for Investment Managers which was awarded "Research Product of the Year" by Inside Market Data. Brooks spent the early part of his software career with Price Waterhouse in their SAP practice. He completed Harvard Business School's PMD program and graduated with honors from Williams College. Brooks is an active seed-stage investor and advisor, lives in New York, and serves on the Board of Visitors for CCES, a secondary school in Greenville, SC.

  • William KrepickMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Bill Krepick brings 30 years+ of experience in high tech marketing and executive roles in consulting, medical electronics, data/voice telecom equipment, software licensing, rights management, and intellectual property. He was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of Macrovision Corp. (recently renamed Rovi Corp), a provider of content management and software value management solutions to the digital media and software industries. In an 8 year period he led Macrovision through an IPO and transformed it from a single product private company with sales of under $20 million/year to a global, publicly-traded industry leader with annual sales of $220 million and a market cap exceeding $1 billion. During this time Macrovision acquired and successfully integrated six companies. Bill retired from Macrovison in 2006 and now advises start-up companies' CEOs. He is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to his Advisory Board position with Maven, Bill is currently Chairman of the Board of Metaforic, Inc. - a Scotland-based start-up company that offers patented anti-tampering solutions for electronic games publishers and software developers. He is also on the Advisory Board of Cognit, Inc. a Toronto-based start-up supplying web-based clinician and patient education tools to support addiction and pain management programs.

  • Reuben OderMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Reuben Oder is Founder and Principal of Reuben Oder Innovations, LLC, an Open Innovation (OI) consulting firm, where he guides companies as they discover how to customize and successfully deploy proven OI approaches, within their own organization’s culture and systems, to accelerate the pace of innovation. He has a proven track record with skills honed in a unique role as the Connect+Develop (C+D) Global Community of Experts Leader within Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) envied Open Innovation program, which P&G branded as Connect+Develop or C+D. The innovative C+D systems improvements he led, coupled with extensive personal training of C+D Leaders, has helped make C+D pervasive at P&G and greatly impacted the bottom line. C+D Enabled initiatives; meaning those with compelling external partner contribution, have a 70% higher NPV than initiatives, which do not leverage C+D. Reuben had a 25 year career with P&G, prior to founding his own consulting firm. His technical background is originally in Packaging, with a focus on conceptual design, computer aided engineering, rapid prototyping, and mold design/fabrication. He holds 19 patents for innovative design of injection and blow molded packages and devices. Reuben was an International Manager for P&G in Brussels, Belgium in 1995-96. He led Corporate Design and Prototyping for North America, but also created and led the Global Prototyping Alliance within P&G as an umbrella to unite all these capabilities globally in a single mission. It was during his Packaging assignments that he pioneered many successful OI experiments as a way to greatly increase his organization’s capability and capacity, which led to his passion to help others adopt OI.

  • Rusty SzurekMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Rusty Szurek is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of InsiderScore, LLC, a buy-side analytics research firm. Founded in 2004, InsiderScore, serves hundreds of the world's largest institutional money managers, providing analytics and research related to insider trading, institutional equity ownership and corporate stock repurchase activity. The company serves its clients through its web-based platform and via partnerships with Bloomberg, Capital IQ and FactSet; and, its research is regularly featured by leading financial media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and CNBC. In 1998, Rusty co-founded RagingBull.com, the world's first online social network built around the exchange of investment information. He attended the University of Virginia and is based in Princeton, NJ.

  • Lonhyn JasinskyjMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Lonhyn Jasinskyj is Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Limelight Networks. In this role he oversees the development of the core software technologies that drive the company's global network and service offerings. Lonhyn previously was Vice President of Engineering at VideoEgg, a rich media content and advertising company. Prior to VideoEgg, he led Software Development at IronPort Systems, a leader in email and network security appliances and spam and malware prevention systems that was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2007. Lonhyn also co-founded Lohika, one of the largest offshore software development companies in Eastern Europe, and was an early participant at Zembu Labs, a distributed database technology company. In addition, Lonhyn has eight years of both management and research and development experience at NASA's Ames Research Center in the massively parallel computing and scientific visualization fields. His earlier background includes architecting large-scale software systems at ATX Inc., a major independent telephone company; as well as research in robotics, machine vision, and distributed computing in an academic environment. Lonhyn studied both Computer Science and Engineering, as well as Biology, at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Jack RoehrigMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Jack Roehrig is the Executive Director of RIXML.org, a not for profit , XML-based Research data standards organization. He has held that position since September of 2007. Prior to his role running RIXML.org, he was Director, eSolutions, Global Markets & Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch. At Merrill Lynch, He built a 30 year career responsible for the design, development and marketing of electronically delivered research services to institutional clients, globally. He is widely recognized throughout the industry and has a thorough knowledge of research and distribution, building upon relationships with buy-side consumers and vendors over many years. He holds a B.S. in Business from Bloomsburg University and an MBA from Monmouth University.

  • Bruce CartonMember of Maven's Advisory Board - Bruce Carton is the editor of a leading publication in the area of Securities Litigation and SEC Enforcement, and is also a columnist for another major publication in the compliance area. He is a former attorney with the SEC's Division of Enforcement, where he investigated and brought cases for violations of the federal securities laws. He was subsequently a securities litigation and SEC enforcement partner with one of the world's largest law firms, and later a vice president at a major corporation on the business side of the securities class action industry. He is a regular speaker, commentator and moderator on securities litigation and regulatory issues. He has appeared as a guest on business television shows and been quoted in publications such as Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and the Financial Times.
